Northern Liberties is located a little over a mile north of Old City. Its approximate borders are Girard Avenue to the north, Callowhill Street to the south, 6th Street to the west and the Delaware River to the east. Northern Liberties is home to a bustling nightlife, trendy eateries, and plenty of street art murals. The Schmidt’s Commons–Philly’s sixth public square built on the site of the now-shuttered Schmidt’s Brewery–serves as a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. There is also a great neighborhood park and community garden, Liberty Lands, which is great for a weekend picnic or some socially distanced gathering.
If you’re looking for a good meal, look no further. Cafe La Maude serves up some of the best plates in the neighborhood. Another famous spot is Honey’s Sit ‘n Eat. Their extensive menu features a page of breakfast and brunch items plus another full page of lunch items. Both restaurants are offering takeout and socially distanced outdoor dining. If you’d rather picnic in a the park, grab a sandwich at Paesano’s Philly Style.
