7 Ways to Incorporate Nature into Your Decor

The key to energizing a quiet room is right outside your window: It’s all about layering textures, colors, and patterns that are rooted in nature. Many of us enjoy being surrounded by nature. It has a relaxing effect, making us healthier mentally, spiritually, and physically. At the Residences at Dockside, we are so lucky to be surrounded by the natural beauty of the Delaware River Waterfront. Here are some easy ways to bring nature indoors and allow yourself to enjoy its calming effects every single day.

1. Put plants and flowers everywhere

The most common way of including nature in our home’s décor is with potted plants and fresh flowers. Put these fresh accents everywhere you can, including the bathroom. Make it look and feel like a spa. Certain types of plants thrive in humid environments and are perfect for this purpose.

2. Use natural materials

Another strategy is to use materials such as stone or wood which are normally found outdoors and make them a part of your home’s interior décor.

3. Get a Hammock

Who said hammocks are only for the outdoors? Create your own little paradise by hanging up a hammock inside. For days when the weather’s bad but you want to stay in your little relaxation swing, place the hammock in your room surrounded by plants and succulents.

4. Landscape art

Don’t forget that art depicting the outdoors is another great way of adding warmth and interest.  Antique stores are the best places to find affordable, quirky pieces. Try to vary how you display your artwork by hanging them the traditional way or by leaning them against walls and mirrors as part of a vignette.

5. Let Natural Light Pour in by Hanging a Sheer Curtain

Create an open and airy atmosphere by swapping the dark and heavy curtain for this gauzy and semi-sheer floral-printed curtain.

6.  Incorporate Furniture with Natural Materials.

Natural materials are great for giving off beachy, boho vibes. Plus, they’re super durable! Try woven materials, wicker or bamboo for a natural look.

7. Get a Printed Shower Curtain

If your apartment can’t fit any more plants, move the party into the bathroom! An eye-catching jungle print or floral shower curtain is a fun way to add some greenery to your bathroom.
