Bike Tour of the Evolving Philly Waterfront Nov. 22
Here’s a great idea (weather permitting, of course) for something fun to do on Saturday, November 22 – after our special lunch presentation here at Dockside, of course! Our “Lunch & Learn” session on “Philadelphia’s Lost Waterfront” is at 11:00 in our Dockside sales office, including an informative presentation and complementary lunch.
Then at 1:00, our friends at Hidden City Philadelphia are hosting a special bike tour of the waterfront titled Between the Piers: A Bike Tour of Our Evolving Waterfront. Tour guide John Vidumsky will tell the history of the docks between Pier 70 and Pier 53 – a former industrial landscape and now an accidental wildlife refuge. Lizzie Woods, Planning and Project Manager at the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, will also be on hand to explain how the waterfront will be reborn as a series of public parks connected by a bike trail.
Bikers will gather in front of the Wal-Mart on South Columbus Boulevard. You’ll stop in places along the way to venture onto the piers on foot, so bring a bike lock and good walking shoes. The tour will conclude at the newly-opened park at Pier 53.
What a great way to explore our city’s waterfront, right after learning more about its history at our lunch session! For tickets or more information on the bike tour, call 267-259-7112, or visit www.hiddencityphila.org.
