Tall Ships Philadelphia Camden is Coming!

The Tall Ships are coming! The Tall Ships are coming!

Dockside_Tall Ships_logoWe shared this news on our social media outlets recently and got a lot of excited responses – so now we’ll share it here, too!

This summer, the Tall Ships Challenge is coming to Philly and Camden, on both shores of the river, June 25-28. This annual event drifts in a three-year cycle between the waters of the Great Lakes, the Pacific and the Atlantic coasts of North America. This year, the popular traveling festival of sea craft will pull into port here in Philadelphia and Camden, docking right near Dockside at Penn’s Landing and the Camden waterfront – more than a dozen international and domestic Tall Ships, including some of the most acclaimed ships worldwide.

Headlining the dozen-ship fleet of Tall Ships Challenge Philadelphia Camden 2015 will be L’Hermione, a replica of the 145-foot long Concorde class frigate that brought General Lafayette to the aid of the fledgling United States during the Revolutionary War.

Visitors can step on board and even set sail on the Delaware on a few of the grand ships! Like any good festival, you can count on lots of great entertainment: music; educational and children’s activities; cannon, word fighting, and other nautical demonstrations; and of course, lots of great food, including a craft beer garden.

We can hardly wait – and our Dockside residents will have front-row seats to all the activity! For tickets and more information, visit www.tallshipsphiladelphia.com.

The event is sponsored by a collaboration of four Delaware waterfront organizations: the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, Coopers Ferry Partnership, Adventure Aquarium and Independence Seaport Museum.
