Done with football? Get out and enjoy winter this weekend!

Bad news: the Eagles are done. Season over. Boo.

Good news: now you can get off the couch, get out and enjoy the weekend… and there’s plenty to do. Yay!

OK, So Saturday may be a wash… but Sunday’s looking a little better. And even though Waterfront Winterfest may be over at Penn’s Landing, the Blue Cross RiverRink is still open for the season.

Philadelphia’s only outdoor, Olympic-sized public ice rink is just minutes away from Dockside, offering public skating sessions, parties, private functions, season-long special events, skate rentals and sharpening. The Lodge, the Blue Cross RiverRink’s pop-up restaurant helmed by Chef George Sabatino is now open Friday – Sunday, serving hot dogs, cookies, potato fritters, pulled pork sandwiches, and more. There is also a variety of hot and cold alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Tickets for public skating sessions can be purchased in advance online, or can be purchased on-site. Online ticket purchases are encouraged for Friday and Saturday nights because sessions tend to sell out in advance. For tickets or more information, visit the RiverRink website.

And if you’re one of those who just can’t quite say “goodbye” to the holidays yet, you still have one last weekend to enjoy a Longwood Christmas at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square.

If you didn’t get a chance to get to Longwood during the holidays – or even if you did – you can still see their extravagant, fruit-adorned trees towering as high as 18 feet in their Conservatory or their Music Room display, featuring sugared, fruit-laden trees and a lavish holiday tea set. Stroll the Outdoor Gardens to colorful lights on display in their expanded outdoor experience—featuring a floating tree display, hundreds of sparkling snowflakes, twinkling tree forms, a 12-foot fountain of lights in the Main Fountain Garden, and much more. The outdoor Christmas lights begin to come on at 3:30 pm every day. Remember, Sunday is the last day to experience this winter wonderland! For more information or tickets, visit their website or call 610-388-1000.

Have a safe, fun (and dry) weekend!
