Tony Bruno Finds Philly’s Good Life at Dockside

We have some of the best residents in the city living here at Dockside! Case in point: popular sports radio personality Tony Bruno and Miss Robin Austin.

When Tony moved back to his native Philadelphia from Los Angeles in 2011, along with Robin, they faced a bit of a challenge in finding the ideal place to live. Tony, who grew up in South Philly, wanted to be close to the city – but he didn’t want to deal with some of the typical urban living issues, like parking and snow removal. Robin, who grew up in the Netherlands, considered herself more of a suburban or country girl. Although she had lived in the L.A. area, she had never actually lived in a city before. Together, they looked at as many as 20 different places in Philadelphia and, ultimately, ended up choosing Dockside. Tony, who can currently be heard weekday afternoons from 1:00–6:00 PM with co-host Josh Innes on 94WIP SportsRadio, explained their decision in a nutshell:

“Dockside was absolutely the best place we looked at. It was the perfect location and it had everything we wanted. Before I moved to L.A., I used to drive by here and think, ‘I’d like to live there one day.’ After every other place we visited, we found ourselves saying, ‘It’s not as good as Dockside.’”

Robin agreed, adding:

“We looked everywhere on the waterfront and all around the city. We made the decision to move here because they had every single amenity and convenience we wanted – and the whole staff is so caring and accommodating. The security here is great and the guys are so nice. We never have to worry about a thing. I thought living in a high-rise might be inconvenient and it’s actually just the opposite! I love it – and everything is a breeze.”

Convenience is certainly one of the key benefits of living at Dockside – but it’s only one of many. Residents enjoy gated access, state-of-the-art security, a 24-hour concierge, ample indoor parking (including reserved spaces and free visitor parking), and some of the city’s best views, including sweeping panoramas of the river, the Ben Franklin Bridge, and the Philadelphia skyline, as Tony noted:

“It’s great. We’re sixteen floors up and we have a spectacular view. We can see the Ben Franklin and the Walt Whitman Bridges and we have a great view of the fireworks. Anyone who comes to visit us, the first thing they say is, ‘Wow! What a view!’”

Located in the center of the thriving Delaware River waterfront, Dockside also features one of Philly’s best locations, as Tony pointed out:

“Hands down, this is one of the best locations in the city,” he commented. “Wherever we have to go, around the city, to New Jersey, to King of Prussia, it’s so convenient to get there from here. It’s phenomenal. I work on Market Street, so I’m only five minutes away. We’re just a couple of minutes from both bridges, right off 95. It’s only about fifteen minutes from the airport. It really couldn’t be in a better spot.”

The Race Street Pier, Sugarhouse Casino, Delaware River Trail, Seaport Museum, Adventure Aquarium and Susquehanna Bank Center are all easily accessible. Residents can also take a short walk over the South Street Bridge for more great shopping and dining in the city.

As Tony and Robin have discovered, we’re also a very social community here at Dockside.

“It’s been fabulous,” Robin said, laughing. “I never lived in a dorm, but it has that kind feel, socially – in a good way! It’s a fun place to live and you can get to know people easily if you want to. There’s such a variety of people here, including some athletes from Philly sports teams, but it’s really accessible to anyone. We’re proud to live here.”

We’re a very social community! A lot of our residents turned out for this years’s Valentine’s Sweetheart Reception.

If it sounds like Tony and Miss Robin are having the time of their lives at Dockside, they are – and they can’t imagine themselves living anywhere else, as Robin shared:

“It is such a peaceful, tranquil place to come home to every day. Here we are in the city, in the midst of all the hustle and bustle and freeways, but as soon as you arrive at Dockside and go through that gate, you just feel different. You feel like you’re truly coming home.”
