This weekend, you don’t have to go far to experience some of the sights and sounds of the world! The Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing will be hosting two popular festivals that celebrate culture, family and community: the Festival of India & Caribbean Festival.

Now in its 21st year, The Festival of India celebrates the vivid culture of India along with its Independence Day. Each year, thousands of people come to enjoy a colorful day with art, music, dance, and plenty of good traditional Indian cuisine. The festival is on Saturday 8/16 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Then on Sunday the 17th, the annual Caribbean Festival livens up the area. Be transported to an island paradise, with authentic island sounds of reggae, roots international beat, soca, hip-hop, cool jazz, gospel and creative dances… plus a market place of Caribbean Fashions and Exotic Cuisine. A culturally rich celebration of 14 Caribbean Islands will treat you to wholesome family fun on the Great Plaza. The festival, which is expected to draw upwards of 15,000 people, is scheduled from 12 Noon to 8:00 p.m.
