Waterfront Spotlight: Delaware River Trail
Residents and visitors agree that Philadelphia’s Delaware River Waterfront is becoming one of the most vibrant spots in the city. At Dockside, we love our neighborhood! Tied together by Penn’s Landing, the Waterfront features restaurants, popular event venues, art installations, and other attractions.
One great feature that residents and locals enjoy is The Delaware River Trail! It is a fantastic walking & biking trail that hugs the Philadelphia waterfront providing access to parks and recreational amenities. It’s part of a larger effort called The Circuit, which eventually will link 750 miles of trail throughout Greater Philadelphia.
The trail is currently open in two disconnected sections with the larger of the two beginning south of the Ben Franklin Bridge near the Penn’s Landing Dog Park. From there, the paved pathway continues south towards the Pier 70 shopping center, loosely paralleling Christopher Columbus Boulevard. Many of the piers along the way have restaurants and other fun attractions that you can stop off at and enjoy! When you live at Dockside, this is right in your backyard and you can take advantage of this feature whenever you please!
A highlight is the Spruce Street Harbor Park in Penn’s Landing, which has a lively atmosphere and entertainment options in the summer. The Independence Seaport Museum is also accessible from the trail and offers interactive exhibits about American shipbuilding and the development of the U.S. Navy.
