With festivals, concerts, movies, and fireworks, Philadelphia is by far the best place to celebrate Independence Day – and at the Residences at Dockside you are right in the middle of it! All week long the city will be alive with various events celebrating the birth of our nation.

On the 3rd, the Philly Pops will be hosting a free concert at 8 p.m. in front of Independence Hall at 5th and Chestnut Streets. Sit on the lawn and enjoy a night of incredible music while kicking off your celebration of America! For more information on this event go to www.phillypops.com/news.php?action=view&id=122.

On the 4th itself, there will be a multitude of activities but make sure not to miss the Independence Day Parade at 11 a.m. on Market Street. The event promises amazing floats, marching bands, and local military and law enforcement groups. For more information on the parade go to http://www.visitphilly.com/events/philadelphia/independence-day-parade-july-4th-in-philadelphia/.

After you’ve had your fill of floats, head over to the Ben Franklin Parkway between 20th Street and Eakins Oval for the “Party on the Parkway.” From noon to 7 p.m. the street will be packed with music, delicious food and more – including dancing, cultural activities, and lots of family friendly fun. The event culminates with the 4th of July Jam Concert, the largest free concert in the country, and spectacular fireworks over the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The concert will be hosted by Kevin Hart and will feature artists John Mayer, Neo, Jill Scott, J. Cole, Grace Porter, Ben Taylor, Demi Lovato, and the Roots. End the week with the “Taste of Philadelphia” from the 5th to the 7th at Penn’s Landing on 101 S. Columbus Boulevard. The event will feature food samples from local restaurants and food trucks, as well as concerts and fireworks on the 6th.
