Looking for something a little different to do this weekend, close to your Dockside home? Check out “Disasters on the Delaware – Rescues on the River” – a new exhibition opening today (9/7/12) at the Independence Seaport Museum.
From romantic steamships to commercial tankers, the Delaware River has been a vital artery to the city. Explore the disasters that unfolded as the Delaware developed into a watery highway for trade and commerce while experiencing the misfortunes, the miracles and the lessons learned. The exhibition will include nautical artifacts, period prints and photographs of shipwrecks and the struggle for survival. Also explored are the heroic first responders who risk their lives to save others.
