This weekend, it’ll be hard for Dockside residents not to notice one of the year’s most anticipated events on the Philly Waterfront: the Old City Seaport Festival. Presented by the Independence Seaport Museum, the festival is a weekend-long event featuring a parade of historic tall-ships, boat tours, live music, and more. The festival is replete with activities and events to satisfy your nautical curiosities, not to mention live music and lines of craft vendors. A healthy sampling of Philadelphia food trucks will be on hand for refreshments, as well as an extensive beer garden area. Topping off the weekend will be an epic pirate ship battle on Sunday, utilizing some of the same colonial battleships that are to be displayed. Loud cannon blasts and gunshots will fill the air (but don’t worry, no actual projectiles will be fired). You can even enjoy a relaxing sunset tour on the river.
